Q) Is there a rule about parking in front of the mail boxes.
A) Yes there is a rule. Per the following U.S. Postal Service regulations;
508; 3.1.4 - " Clear Approach"
Customers must keep the approach to their mail boxes clear
of obstructions to allow safe access for delivery. If USPS
employees are impeded in reaching a mail receptacle, the
Postmaster may withdraw delivery service. Simply put,
if someone is parked in front of the mail boxes, or in such a
manner as to impede them pulling their truck up to the
boxes, they do not have to deliver the mail that day.
508; 3.2.6 - "Location"
This states that a curbside mail box must be placed to allow
safe and convenient delivery by carriers without leaving
their vehicles. Simply put, if they can't pull up to the boxes
and deliver the mail without leaving their vehicle, they
don't have to deliver the mail.
Q) What is the rule about pets and leashes.
A) Harris County has a leash law. Any pet outside of the premises of
the custodian must be on a leash not more than 6ft in length,
the individual holding the leash must be able to control the animal.
Animal control considers any animal that is outside the premises of the
custodian, with access to public streets or sidewalks a stray. Presence
of tags does not constitute the animal not being stray. Should animal
control pick up an animal, the owner is subject to fines.
Q) I want to construct a storage shed in my backyard. What do I have to do.
A) Go to the forms and docs page. Download the ACC form and fax or mail
it in along with a drawing or sketch of the proposed shed or other project.
The ACC committee will review it and notify you of approval or denial
with recommendations.
Q) What can we do about people parking on Riata Ranch Blvd. by the park.
It is causing safety concerns and people don't seem to care.
A) The board is talking with Pct #3 at this time to facilitate putting no parking
signs along the area in question. At that point we can have the vehicles
towed should they continue to park there. Also, many people park along
the park in the wrong direction. We have informed the sheriff's dept. of
this and we forsee a few tickets getting written. We have asked people to
be considerate and park south of Vaquero Way or use the pool parking
but these requests have gone ignored. This is the next step in trying to
get people to cooperate. The Board is committed to safety.
